WIOA Local Plan Public Comment

Monday, April 26, 2021 - 2:00pm

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law enacted in 2014 to reform and modernize the public workforce system. WIOA requires Governors to designate local and regional workforce development areas, which require local and regional workforce development plans. The two-county area of Richland and Crawford Counties is the local and regional workforce development area.

The plan was developed by examining the State’s Local WIOA Planning Guidance and responding to ensure the plan is a reflection of the current and ongoing workforce development activities. The Board contracted with Thomas P. Miller and Associates, LLC (TPMA) to facilitate the development of the plan, which included stakeholder engagement interviews and Board meeting facilitation. TPMA identified common trends in the region’s workforce development system and highlighted activities that demonstrate strong partner collaboration as well as areas that need support.

In addition to an introduction page, this plan includes (1) descriptions of the local workforce development system vision, and (2) descriptions of the local workforce development system. It is required that all local WIOA plans be published for public comment prior to finalization. The comment period for this plan will end May 26, 2021. Comments on the Area 10 Local WIOA Plan should be sent to Teresa Alt at Teresa.alt@jfs.ohio.gov. Once all edits have been received and the plan has been finalized, it will be sent to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for approval and will be in effect from July 2021 – June 2025.
